    Curriculum

    The curriculum of the school reflects the demands of the National Curriculum. It is designed in order to provide all students with a broad, balanced education relevant to their needs both now and in the future. The school operates a two weekly timetable cycle based upon 50 hours of lessons per fortnight.

    The Key Stage 3 (KS3) Curriculum

    The curriculum for Years 7 and 8 is made up of 50 teaching periods over a fortnightly timetable cycle.

    *In each Year the cohort is split in half (x and y).  In Year 7 students study either French (Y side) or Spanish (X side). Students continue with this language throughout Years 7 & 8. However, more able students can choose to take Mandarin Chinese in Year 8 in place of the language started in Year 7.

    The Key Stage 4 (KS4) Curriculum

    The curriculum for Years 9, 10 & 11 is made up of a common core (60% of the timetable) and optional subjects (40% of the timetable).

    The Sixth Form Curriculum

    The curriculum for Years 12 & 13 is spread across a 4 block structure. That is a total 36 lessons per fortnight with 14 private study periods.

    In Year 13 students will continue with 3 optional subjects spread across a 4 block structure. This is a total 27 lessons per fortnight with 23 private study periods. Some students do choose to continue with 4 subjects and some opt to pursue the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).
