International Learning Hub

The Owen Jones International Learning Hub supports and promotes independent learning and reading for pleasure. Pupils have access to the Hub throughout the day. It opens at 8.30am and closes at 4.30pm (4pm on Fridays).

The innovative single storey building combines new and emerging technologies with the collections and services normally associated with a traditional school library. It is a creative learning environment where the flexible integration of online and offline resources enable students to study, produce and present work to the best of their ability. There are laptops & iPads for individual or group work, and pupils can borrow Kindle e-book readers. There are also full conference facilities for class presentations and visiting speakers. The Hub patio garden provides outdoor study and reading space on warmer days.

Promoting Reading for pleasure is an essential part of the everyday activity within the Hub. A constantly changing fiction stock and a comfy reading area creates a modern space for pupils, and themed reading projects and competitions help reinforce the concept that reading is fun and exciting. The Learning Hub participates in the Cheshire Book Quiz each year, World Book Day events, and hosts Filmclub every Monday afternoon.
