Key Stage 3

Our key stage 3 curriculum provides challenges and new experiences in Computing, Digital Literacy and Information Technology (regardless of their prior knowledge of using computers) and is designed to ensure learners develop a variety of digital skills to allow them to progress on to further study in computing  if they so choose or simply have the ability to thrive in an ever increasing  digital world.

In year 7, emphasis is placed on improving students' skills, confidence and awareness of Computer Science and ICT. Some of the modules that students complete are:

  • Introduction to Computers and E-Safety
  • Black Based Programming
  • Understanding computers and Artificial Intelligence
  • Spreadsheet Modelling

Year 8 and 9

During Year 8 and 9  a greater emphasis is placed on developing students' capability to solve problems using the computer science and software skills they have acquired. Some of the modules that students complete are: 

  • Text Based programming - in Python
  • Digital Graphics
  • Website design 
  • Animation
  • Physical computing using micro bits and lego robots
