LGBT+ Support and Youth Groups

We have a vibrant LGBT+ club which meets in school every Wednesday evening and is open to all year groups. Members of staff who are available to discuss anything to do with the LGBT community wear rainbow lanyards and are there to support all learners.

There are local support groups available such as Phoenix (see Poster below).

Other areas of support:

Proud Connections: On this new site you will find some helpful information in the resource's sections, covering a range of different things such as coming out, faith and religion, and staying safe. You’ll also find stories and experiences from other LGBT+ people in the “People like me” section. https://beta.theproudtrust.org/?mc_cid=f9a2700cd2&mc_eid=55f9cb3149

Mind: LGBTIQ+ mental health Gives information about mental health support for people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, queer or questioning (LGBTIQ+).

Mermaids: Mermaids supports transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse children and young people until their 20th birthday, as well as their families and professionals involved in their care. We also currently offer web chat support to students up to the age of 25. Transgender, nonbinary and gender-diverse children and teens need support and understanding, as well as the freedom to explore their gender identity. Whatever the outcome, Mermaids is committed to helping families navigate the challenges they may face.
