Governors

Welcome to the Governors section of the school website.

The Governors of Upton-by-Chester High School are a well-established Governing Board.  They work closely with the Headteacher and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure that we provide the highest quality of education for every learner in our school.

The purpose of the Governing Board is to;

• Ensure the clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;

• Hold executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and

• Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.

Governors meet regularly, both as a full board and as members of committees.

The Governors are supported by an Independent Clerk.

Governors can be contacted at gov@uptonhigh.co.uk

All governors are appointed by Upton-by-Chester High School.

The governors of Upton-by-Chester High School believe it is important that boards reflect the diversity of the school communities they serve. Diverse boards promote inclusive school environments and provide diverse role models for staff and young people.

The governors are currently collecting data on the diversity of the board, including data on age, gender and ethnicity. They will use that data to inform their recruitment and training needs and ensure there is always a diverse range of perspectives around the table to support robust decision making.

Due to our relatively small governing body we do not publish this diversity data online as individual governors could be identified and we have a legal obligation to protect their personal data.
