Headteachers Message

Welcome to the latest newsletter from Upton-by-Chester High School.  I hope that you are enjoying the new format and are finding it easier to find the information that you need.  Please do give us any feedback via the admin@uptonhigh.co.uk email address if you have any.

On Friday of last week we had one of our three annual non-uniform days.  I am delighted to say that we raised £1233.00 for Children in Need.  Thank you to all our learners for their support of this important charity.

This week, the Directors of Key Stage Three and Four met with parents / carers as part of our commitment to hearing your views and continuing to improve the work that we do in school.  This week's meetings focussed on assessment and how we will give you even more accurate information on your child's performance in school.  Mr Iqbal will be sharing a video with you all over the next couple of weeks to explain what you can expect.

We are also continuing to update the new school website at www.uptonhigh.co.uk to ensure that it provides you with all the information that you need.  Again, if there is information which you feel would be helpful to have on the website, please do let us know at admin@uptonhigh.co.uk.

This week Year 11 have been undertaking the first week of their PPE's (Pre-Public Examinations.)  This is a really important time as it allows them to get used to the examination conditions that they will need to work under when they sit their GCSE Examinations in the summer.  We will be sharing the outcome of these PPEs before the end of this calendar year and then in January Mrs Bradbury and Mr Rutter will meet with the learners to support them in the next important steps to their success.

We recently hosted our Sixth Form information evening and have started to receive applications for admission to the Sixth Form in September 2025.  Please see the information on the website so you can register your interest in a place for next year.

Finally, next week will see the launch of the public consultation for the school rebuilding project which is planned for Upton-by-Chester High School.  This will be launched with information on the school website, a leaflet drop in the local community and a special parents' bulletin from myself next week.

I wish you all a restful weekend and look forward to seeing all our learners next week.

Foodbank Collection

Last academic year we were delighted to have collected 526kg worth of provisions and a donation of £393.17 for West Cheshire Foodbank, which supplied enough provisions to feed around 80 people, 3 meals a day for a whole year.

Our Learner Leadership Team are again leading a collection for our local FoodBank (West Cheshire Foodbank). This will enable our staff and learners to display our Halls ethos of community, allowing them to understand that true giving is to those who can never repay them.

West Cheshire Foodbank provides help to local people who live below the poverty line in Chester and surrounding areas, providing emergency food to men, women, and children in crisis. The festive period can be a challenging time for families and we envisage this year in particular will bring even more difficulties for some.

We are asking our learners and staff where possible to get involved by bringing in one item from the list below and placing it in the box provided in their form room by Monday 9th December. Once the boxes are full, they will be collected and distributed by West Cheshire Foodbank.

Thank you in anticipation for your support and for making a difference this festive period.
