Headteacher's Message

Welcome to this week's edition of the parent / carer bulletin.

This week we have welcomed over 280 Year 6 learners to the school as part of their transition programme.  The learners were able to take part in a whole range of activities to help them get ready to join our school community in September 2025.  We have also welcomed parents to the 'meet the tutor' evening and this was a great opportunity to hear about what the learners were looking forward to, and what they are nervous about.  I must say that the Year 9 Peer Mentors, who have been working with the Year 6 learners, have been great.  They have been so knowledgeable and really keen to make sure that every young person felt supported and ready to start at our school.

Next week we have Year 10 learners out on their Geography field trip so we look forward to hearing how they get on.

Monday 30th June is forecasted to be very warm and so learners will not be required to bring their blazers to school on Monday.

With very best wishes,

Mr L Cummins

Request for Parent/ Carer involvement in Careers Events

Dear Parents and Carers,

Over the past few years, we have been fortunate to welcome several of you into school to share your professional experiences with our learners as part of our careers programme. These talks, whether delivered during our Careers Breakfasts or in Sixth Form Assemblies, have been incredibly valuable, offering learners real-world insights and inspiration as they consider their own future pathways.

We are now looking to relaunch this initiative and would be delighted to hear from any parents or carers who would be willing to volunteer their time to speak with our learners. Whether you work in healthcare, engineering, the arts, business, public service, technology, or any other field, your story could make a real difference in helping our learners understand the range of opportunities available to them.

There are a few different ways to get involved:

  • Careers Breakfasts: Informal morning sessions where learners can chat with professionals over breakfast.
  • Sixth Form Assemblies: More formal presentations to our older learners, often followed by a Q&A.

From September 2025, we are also looking to invite businesses into school to run one-day project-based workshops with learners in Years 7 to 9. if you feel you or your organisation could support us with this exciting new initiative, please do let us know.

if you are interested in taking part, or would like to find out more, please complete the form at this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1bItnkdH9NsJV8PVBRXuYEHA1_cB827qUe4MiFqZALrU/viewform?edit_requested=true

We are grateful for any time you can offer and will work with you to find a format and date that suits your schedule.

Thank you once again to all those who have supported this initiative in the past. We look forward to building on that success and continuing to broaden our learners' horizons with your help.

Best Regards
Mrs Gwyther
