Headteacher's Message

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is hard to believe that we are now in the penultimate week of the academic year. As you will be aware, last week saw the publication of the Upton Voice. Just a quick scan through this magazine highlights the range of activities that learners have participated in and/ or led. It doesn't take long to see how our learners are learning to shape the future.

This morning I had the privilege of seeing off our Year 9 and 10 learners who are heading to Florida. This afternoon I am eagerly awaiting the return of our Year 8 learners who have taken part in a 2-night residential, news of which suggests they have had an amazing time. There have also been 20 plus learners from Year 12 taking part in the Gold Duke of Edinburgh award. All of this taking place outside of school and so much taking place inside of school.

We look forward to the next few days to mark the end of this academic year. Please be reminded that learners are permitted to wear their own clothes on Tuesday 22nd July for a donation of £1.

This will be my last bulletin for this academic year, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support.  It is only with your support that we can together ensure that all of our learners achieve their potential.

With very best wishes,

Mr L Cummins

The final day of the academic year is a non-uniform day. A contribution of £1 is requested for each learner wishing to participate which will be donated to our nominated charity, Midibart.  The donation can be made via Scopay from today or via cash to form tutors on Tuesday.

There will also be a bake sale on this day for learners at break time. All items will be £1 (cash only).

A reminder also that school closes at 1.20pm on the last day of term.

DEI Pride Donation

I am pleased to confirm that the DEI Learner Action Group PRIDE event in June raised enough money for school to be able to make a £100 donation to Chester Pride.  Thank you for your support with this event.

Eco-Schools Award

I am pleased to announce that Upton-by-Chester High School has received the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award with Distinction again this year. This follows a year of collaborative work with Chester Zoo, Edsential and the local council to improve the biodiversity within our school. Learners have also volunteered towards their level 2 Environmental Leadership.

iDEA Award Success

During the summer term some of our Yr 9 learners have been completing the iDEA award during their computer science lessons.   The Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award, known as iDEA is an international award winning programme that helps you develop digital, enterprise and employability skills - 18 of our year 9 learners and 1 year 10 learner have achieved their Bronze Award Certification and have started the journey towards the Silver Award.
