Headteacher's Message

Welcome to this week's edition of the parent/ carer bulletin.

It has been another busy but very productive week at Upton-by-Chester High School. The vast majority of our learners continue to be highly focused on their studies, making excellent progress, and contributing to the positive atmosphere around the school. We are keen to maintain this strong start and ensure that the rest of the academic year continues in the same positive spirit.

Looking ahead, we are delighted to invite families to our Sixth Form Open Evening, which will take place on Thursday 16th October, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. This is an excellent opportunity to find out more about what makes our Sixth Form such a special place to study. At Upton-by-Chester High School Sixth Form, we combine strong academic outcomes with a wide range of experiences to ensure that learners not only achieve excellent results but also develop as confident, creative, and independent young adults.

We welcome learners both from our own Year 11 cohort and from other schools, and we are proud of the high-quality teaching delivered by subject specialists who are passionate about their fields. Our learners benefit not only from outstanding teaching but also from opportunities to grow in leadership, teamwork, creativity, and self-discipline. The vast majority of our Sixth Formers progress to their chosen Post-18 destination, whether that be university, an apprenticeship, or full-time employment, fully prepared for life as young adults.

On Monday, we are also looking forward to our annual Awards Evening. This special event is a chance to celebrate the achievements and effort shown by learners throughout the previous academic year. I look forward to sharing some of the highlights from this wonderful occasion in next week’s bulletin.

With very best wishes,

Mr L Cummins

6th Form Driving Lessons

Driving lessons are permitted to be taken during the school day as long as they don't overlap, and therefore clash, with a timetabled lesson or THRIVE (afternoon form time). We must have evidence from parents/ carers that a driving lesson session is happening so that the learner can be granted permission to leave school for that driving lesson. The easiest way to inform us of when a driving lesson is happening is via email to either your child's form tutor or Year12@uptonhigh.co.uk or Year13@uptonhigh.co.uk respectively.
