Welcome to the latest edition of the Parent/ Carer Bulletin.
On Monday evening this week, our school community came together at the Storyhouse in Chester for one of the highlights of the Upton-by-Chester High School calendar, our annual Awards Evening. It was a truly wonderful occasion, bringing together learners, families, staff, and governors to celebrate the achievements, dedication, and talent of our young people.
The evening was a fitting celebration of all that makes Upton-by-Chester High School such a special place to learn and grow. In my opening address, I reflected on how our school motto, “Learning to Shape the Future,” captures the essence of what we were there to celebrate, not just academic success, but the growth, resilience, and character of our learners as they prepare to make their mark on the world.
Our five core values, Community, Ambition, Resilience, Diligence, and Inclusion, were woven throughout the evening’s celebrations. Each award presented recognised a learner who had demonstrated these values in action: striving for excellence, overcoming challenges, showing kindness and leadership, and contributing positively to our vibrant school community.
It was wonderful to see so many proud faces, from learners collecting awards to parents and carers applauding their achievements. The evening also offered an opportunity to thank our dedicated staff, whose hard work and commitment underpin every success we celebrated.
As the applause filled the Storyhouse theatre, there was a real sense of pride and unity, a reminder that education is not just about results, but about shaping futures, building confidence, and celebrating every step of progress. Congratulations to all our award winners and to every learner who continues to embody the Upton-by-Chester High School spirit every day.
Next week on Thursday we have our Sixth Form Open Evening from 5.30-7.30pm. This event is an opportunity for learners in Year 11 to obtain all of the information they need in order to plan their transition to Upton-by-Chester High School Sixth Form. Our evening will consist of 15-minute subject talks on a rotation, in addition to two talks in the hall from the Director of Sixth Form. We look forward to welcoming you.
With very best wishes,
Mr L Cummins
