Headteacher's Message

This week we were pleased to welcome so many Year 9 parents and carers to our annual Options Evening. It was wonderful to see such strong engagement as students begin the important process of choosing their GCSE pathways. We hope you found the evening informative and that it provided all the guidance you needed to support these decisions. A letter has been sent home today outlining the next steps in the options process.

Next week on Thursday we have the privilege of hearing from holocaust survivors as part of Holocaust Memorial Day. We have sent home further details of what this will involve and how important it is that we take part in this event each year.

Also on Thursday next week we have our Learner Progress Evening for Year 11 parents and carers, if you need any assistance in making appointments please do not hesitate to get in touch with the school.

With very best wishes for the weekend,

Mr L Cummins

Compulsory School Uniform Review

Dear Parents and Carers,

You may be aware of the government’s new requirements for school uniforms, which limit the number of compulsory branded items and will come into effect from  September 2026.

For secondary schools, this is 4 branded items, IF one is a tie.

We have reviewed our current school uniform and removed some PE items from the compulsory list. By doing so, we are satisfied that we are adhering to this guidance.

Subject: Information for parents: ketamine awareness

Dear parents and carers,

We’re getting in touch to share some information about ketamine use among young people, and to help parents feel informed and supported.

You may have seen recent media coverage about Cheshire Police appealing for information around ketamine supply. This appeal forms part of our wider work to better understand how ketamine is reaching young people locally, and to reduce the harm it can cause. By raising awareness, we hope to encourage early conversations and reporting.

Ketamine is sometimes perceived by teenagers as a low-risk or occasional “party drug”. However, we are seeing increasing evidence that even infrequent use can have major health impacts, including memory and concentration issues and serious bladder-related problems.

We also know that young people can come into contact with drugs in a range of everyday settings, including social groups and online spaces. Most teenagers will never go beyond being offered something - but staying aware helps parents have informed, calm conversations if needed.

Information from parents and communities can help us build a clearer picture of local trends and target those responsible for supplying drugs, rather than young people themselves.

If you notice anything that feels unusual or concerning, sharing it can help prevent harm.

You can report concerns:

  • Directly to police via 101 or online via our website
  • Anonymously through Crimestoppers: https://crimestoppers-uk.org
