Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been a real pleasure to welcome all of our learners back to school this week. The vast majority have returned with a positive attitude to learning and have made an excellent start to the new term. I have been particularly impressed with our Year 11 and Year 13, who have come back with a clear sense of purpose and a strong focus on preparing for their forthcoming examinations.
Yesterday, a group of learners had the opportunity to attend a production of Noughts and Crosses as part of their Drama studies. They thoroughly enjoyed experiencing live theatre, and this will now serve as a valuable stimulus to support their ongoing learning in the classroom.
We were also delighted to host the Year 12 Learner Progress Evening yesterday. It was very well attended, and we hope it provided a valuable opportunity for productive discussions about how learners can maximise their potential and make the most of the support available to them in Year 12.
In this week’s newsletter, you will find a letter from Mrs McCarthy, Deputy Headteacher, outlining our plans for school uniform next year. These proposals are designed to ensure that we remain in line with the Government’s updated guidance. As you will see, we are currently proposing only minimal changes.
Looking ahead to next week, we are excited to see groups of Year 10 and Year 12 learners heading out on their Bronze and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions. These experiences provide invaluable opportunities for personal development, teamwork and resilience. We are also looking forward to welcoming Urenco into school to work with half of our Year 9 cohort, focusing on developing key employability skills.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
With very best wishes,
Mr L Cummins
