Headteacher's Message

This week has once again been a productive and positive one across the school, with learners continuing to demonstrate excellent commitment to their learning, enrichment activities and wider school life. It has been particularly pleasing to see the positive atmosphere around the school and the way in which learners continue to support one another as we move further into the summer term.

Today marked a significant milestone for our Year 13 learners as they attended their Leavers’ Assembly on what is officially their final day in school before beginning study leave. Watching the young people enter the assembly was a real privilege and provided an opportunity to reflect on the many achievements they have accomplished during their time with us. Those achievements have taken many forms; sporting success, contributions to the School Council, coaching and mentoring younger learners, involvement in school productions and countless other ways in which they have enriched our school community.

Throughout the assembly, we reminded learners of their ability to go on and fulfil their potential, something I am certain many of them will achieve in the years ahead. We also spoke about the importance of friendship and the need to continue supporting one another throughout the examination period. Whilst study leave now begins, we remain here to support them and look forward to welcoming them back to school for lessons and revision sessions up until their final examinations.

We are incredibly proud of the young people they have become and thank them for the contribution they have made to school life. We wish them every success in the weeks ahead.

With very best wishes,

Mr L Cummins

What is sexual abuse?

Sexual abuse is forcing a child or young person to take part in sexual activities. Sexual abuse does not necessarily involve violence.

Did you know:

•Sharing nude images of someone without their knowledge is a form

of abuse?

•Sexual abuse can take place online, and technology can be used to facilitate offline abuse?

•Causing someone to engage in sexual activity without consent is sexual abuse?

What is sexual harassment?

Sexual harassment is unwanted conduct of a sexual nature that can occur online and offline. This could include, for example:

•Sexual comments, such as: telling sexual stories, making lewd comments, making sexual remarks about clothes and appearance and calling someone sexualised names;

•Sexual“jokes”or taunting

•Physical behaviour, such as: deliberately brushing against someone, interfering with someone’s clothes

•Sharing of unwanted explicit content online

•Upskirting

•Sexualised online bullying

•Unwanted online sexual comments and  messages, including, on social media;

Sexual harassment leaves victims feeling intimidated and humiliated. It will not be tolerated in our school. Please speak to your Form Tutor, Pastoral Support

Manager, Head of Year or Mr Keegan if you are a victim or know someone who is a victim.

If you are a victim of sexual abuse or assault:

•Speak to someone at school - we strongly encourage this. Please speak to your Form Tutor, Pastoral Support Manager, Head of Year or Mr Keegan or any adult you trust.

•Speak to your parents/carers. If you are worried about this conversation, we can help.

Community News

Anselmians Senior Colts are currently recruiting new players ahead of the upcoming season.

We aim to provide a clear pathway into senior rugby, supporting players as they develop and transition into the adult game. We currently have a committed squad of around 14–17 players, and last season we had a successful year with 4 wins, 3 draws and 3 losses. We’re now looking to build on that and strengthen the squad further.

We are particularly looking for players in Year 11 and Year 12, whether they are new to rugby, not currently at a club, or looking for a new challenge.

Pre-season training begins on:
23rd June at 6:15pm
Anselmians RUFC, Eastham (CH62 0AH)

If your child is interested, please contact Dan or Chris via WhatsApp.

Kind regards,
Dan
Senior Colts Coach
