Blades Down

On Friday, we were delighted to welcome Poppy-Mae from Year 8 and Lee from the charity Blades Down, who presented the school with a bleed control bag.

This generous donation follows Poppy-Mae’s successful fundraising efforts in support of the charity’s vital preventative work.

Blades Down is a community-led initiative dedicated to tackling knife crime, youth violence, and antisocial behaviour. The charity provides education, intervention, and support to young people, equipping them with the skills and confidence to make positive choices and break free from cycles of crime. Through their work in schools, community centres, and within the wider community, Blades Down aims to create safer spaces, stronger communities, and brighter futures for young people at risk.

Poppy-Mae shared her motivation with Mrs McCarthy, saying:

“I like fundraising for bleed control bags for Blades Down because it helps keep people safe and could save someone’s life. Knife crime affects so many families, and knowing that I can do something to help my community makes me feel proud. By supporting Blades Down, I’m helping make the world a safer place.”

A huge congratulations to Poppy-Mae for her ongoing commitment to charitable work. We are incredibly proud of her efforts and look forward to receiving training from Blades Down on the use of the bleed control bag in the near future.
