PSHE

PSHE 2026/27

At Upton-by-Chester high school, PSHE plays a vital role in supporting learners' personal development, wellbeing and preparation for adult life. Through a carefully planned curriculum, learners develop the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to stay healthy, safe and resilient, while learning how to make informed and responsible choices.  Our scheme of learning promotes respect, inclusion, positive relationships and the values needed to thrive in modern British society.

Our PSHE curriculum includes the statutory areas of the updated Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) guidance, alongside learning about mental wellbeing, physical health, online safety, financial education, careers, citizenship, diversity and equality.  Lessons are designed to help learners understand themselves and others, manage risk, recognise unhealthy behaviours, and know where to seek support when needed.

The curriculum is delivered in an age-appropriate, inclusive and evidence-informed manner, reflecting the needs of our learners and the wider community.  We work in partnership with parents and carers to ensure that young people are equipped to become confident, respectful and responsible members of society.

An overview of the themes covered in our curriculum can be found below.  For further information about our PSHE curriculum including access to exemplar material, please contact Miss Welch, Head of PSHE via email welchs@uptonhigh.co.uk and/or view our RSHE Safeguarding policies.
