Engage @ Upton

Attending school should be an exciting and enriching experience for all learners.

We aim to create as many opportunities for learners to extend their learning beyond the confines of the classroom with the Engage @ Upton programme.

Learners can contribute to the school community through taking on sports, dance and drama leadership roles, through leadership of projects, Eco-Schools, Fairtrade and Oxfam Action groups.

We offer a range of activities to suit all learners.

In February 2025 Ofsted visited Upton-by-Chester High School.  They reviewed all aspects of the school work and when talking about the Engage@Upton programme they said that:

"The pupil-produced ‘Upton Voice’ newsletter is a joyous celebration of pupils’ individual and collective achievements. It brims with examples of the wide-ranging and exciting enrichment opportunities that the school provides. For instance, pupils attend residential trips, perform in the school productions and engage in the wealth of clubs that are available through the ‘engage’ programme. These opportunities allow pupils to explore new talents and interests and help them to grow in confidence. Most pupils are highly positive about their school experience."

There is a timetable below for each year group, as clubs differ from year to year. There is also information about how to join clubs and the timings as well as some leadership opportunities for year 10 and above.
