Proposed Disposal of Land at Mannings Lane – Consultation

Upton-by-Chester High School is seeking views on a proposal relating to land at the Mannings Lane site.

The school currently holds the freehold interest in land used for sports provision, which is subject to a long-term lease arrangement. As part of ongoing estate and financial planning, the school is proposing to dispose of its freehold interest in this land while securing a revised agreement that ensures continued access to all existing sporting facilities.

Key Points of the Proposal

  • The school will retain full access to all current sports facilities required for the delivery of the PE curriculum
  • There will be no reduction in the quality or quantity of PE provision for students
  • The proposal will not impact students’ ability to participate in sport and physical education
  • Community use of the facilities will continue unchanged
  • The arrangement will support the long-term financial sustainability of the school, enabling resources to be directed towards educational priorities

The precise land area subject to the proposed disposal is currently being finalised as part of ongoing discussions and is therefore not specified at this stage. However, the proposal relates to land currently used for sports provision, and there will be no impact on the school’s continued access to facilities or delivery of the PE curriculum.

Impact on Students and Provision

It is important to emphasise that this proposal will not result in any loss of access to playing fields or sports facilities. Upton-by-Chester High School will continue to use the site in the same way as it does currently, ensuring that the PE curriculum and extracurricular sporting activities are fully supported.
