Coronavirus Update

Many thanks for your continuing support in these times of great uncertainty.

I am pleased to report that 90% of our students were well enough to attend school yesterday and I would like to wish anyone who has been absent due to illness my very best wishes for a speedy recovery.

If your child/ward is unable to attend school, please support them in completing the many learning tasks and activities which can be accessed via the following link:

We are dealing with the challenges of Coronavirus on a day-to-day basis and I will continue to update you regularly following our daily Senior Leadership Team meeting.

In addition to postponing the events about which I informed you yesterday, we are also postponing the following;

 Year 10 Parents’ Evening 30/03/20
 PTA meeting 26/03/20

Just to remind you about the official guidance from the Department for Education and Public Health England, schools will stay open at the moment and we are therefore doing everything we can to ensure it is business as usual, whilst following their advice:

 staff, young people and children should stay at home if they are unwell with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature to avoid spreading infection to others. Otherwise they should attend education or work as normal
 if staff, young people or children become unwell on site with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature they should be sent home
 clean and disinfect regularly touched objects and surfaces more often than usual using your standard cleaning products
 supervise young children to ensure they wash their hands for 20 seconds more often than usual with soap and water or hand sanitiser and catch coughs and sneezes in tissues

The updated guidance can be found here:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-educational-settings-about-covid-19/guidance-to-educational-settings-about-covid-19#contents

Current advice remains in place: no education or children’s social care setting should close in response to a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 case unless advised to do so by Public Health England.

Naturally there is bound to be anxiety amongst our young people and form tutors will be talking to them in their PLaN time about this.

At this time we are unable to make any decisions regarding planned trips and activities beyond the Easter holidays, however as soon as we know more we will of course be in touch.

With my very best wishes,
Yours faithfully,
Paula Dixon
