The Year 8s learnt about the format of formal debate including motions, houses, the chair, the proposer and the opposer. They also distinguished the differences between arguing and debating and practised skills of asserting their views and counter-argument. This workshop was to prepare a team for the Rotary Club 'Youth Speaks' debating competition that we will be attending at Chester Town Hall in January.
