European Day of Languages
On the 25th and 26th September, Year 7 took part in challenges as part of the MFL Department's celebrations of European Day of Languages.
On Thursday 25th and Friday 26th September, Year 7 took part in workshops supported by Europe Direct as part of the MFL Department's celebrations of European Day of Languages (Fri 26th). In each of the eight one hour sessions held, students challenged themselves to match up flags, celebrities, famous dishes, authors and many other items to the relevant EU country on a giant map. They all received their own copy of the Passport to the European Union which they used both to help them with the workshop activities and to get them thinking about the follow-up activity which was to design their own country and flag! Students are currently finishing these off in MFL lessons and they will then be judged by Europe Direct. There is so much creativity amongst our students that we are sure that they will have trouble choosing a winner, but we look forward to finding out who that lucky winner is in the upcoming weeks and awarding them with their prize from Europe Direct.
