Key Stage 4
Key stage 4 refers to Year 10 and 11. In year 10 learners start their two year GCSE and Vocational courses journey. Excellent attendance to school is vital for every learner, here at Upton High School, attendance in year 10 and 11 is vital to ensure learners reach and achieve beyond their potential. In year 10 learners will sit assessments each half-term and will sit larger assessments mid-year and at the end of the year. The attainment of learners in year 10 will be used in some subjects to place learners into their year 11 classes.
In year 11 learners undertake two pre-public examinations, firstly in November and secondly in February. We support all of our Key stage 4 learners through providing advice and support on how to revise and prepare fully for examinations. Learners will be provided with revision planners to help them organise their time and revision, in most subjects. Where necessary, learners will be supplemented with extra intervention classes. These may be held within the school day or after school and in school holidays. Our teachers are committed to ensuring that every learner reaches their true potential and often go above and beyond to ensure that this happens. Our learners are committed to high achievement and strive to be the best that they can be.
