The 16-19 tuition fund is a one-off fund for the academic year 2020/21. This funding is aimed to overcome the disruption caused by the lockdown due to Covid-19. The funding is provided to support those learners who have not achieved a Grade 5 in Maths and/ or English by the time they are 16.
The guidance indicates that students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and/or those who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) will also be eligible for support via this Fund. Although the funding has been allocated to support students who have not achieved a grade 5 in English and/or Mathematics by the age of 16, the support does not have to be used solely for English and Mathematics tuition.
We are using the funding to support our learners through:
- the use of online subscription for our learners to develop their knowledge and understanding.
- purchasing revision/ essential materials where required; this will include revision guides, workbooks and calculators.
- one to one/ small group tuition outside of their classroom lessons. These extra sessions will ideally be delivered by our own team who know our learners best, where this is not possible we will use external practitioners.
- ensure learners have access to support where and when required.
